The Deputy Minister of Technical and Higher Education of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Honourable Sarjoh Aziz-Hamara, has praised Nigeria for its achievements in the space science and technology sector.
In a statement by Dr. Felix Ale, the Director of Media and Corporate Communications of NASRDA, the Honourable Deputy Minister expressed his admiration during a visit to the headquarters of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) in Abuja.
During his tour of various facilities at the Space Agency, conducted by the Director General Dr. Halilu Ahmad Shaba, Honourable Aziz-Hamara described space science and technology as pivotal to the development of science, technology, and innovation in any country.
He emphasized that the success of the National Space Research and Development Agency is not only impressive but also deserving of praise and emulation.
Honourable Aziz-Hamara stated that Sierra Leone has much to gain from Nigeria’s space program and policy and pledged to facilitate collaboration between the two countries in this crucial area, which he described as essential for the social, political, and economic development of any nation.
The Deputy Minister commended the Director General and the entire management and staff of the Space Agency, asserting that their remarkable achievements bring pride to the continent.
Regarding the Nigeria Science, Technology, and Innovation Television (NSTItv), Honourable Aziz-Hamara hailed it as a commendable initiative and a strategic platform for promoting technology and innovation in Nigeria and Africa as a whole.
Dr. Halilu Ahmad Shaba, the Director General of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), expressed his delight at the visit, noting its significance in the agency’s history.
He highlighted the agency’s numerous achievements and reiterated its commitment to implementing its Space Roadmap for the benefit of all Nigerians.
Dr. Shaba assured that the Space Agency is ready to assist and collaborate in space science and technology development, particularly with African countries and partners globally.
The Honourable Deputy Minister was later given a tour of the ground station for NigeriaSat 2 and NigeriaSat X, the Grid 3 project, advanced laboratories, and other critical project facilities in the Strategic Space Applications department of the Space Agency.
