Director of Youth mobilization of the All progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council – Abuja chapter, Yusuf Nadabo has charged Nigerian youths to engage more in the polity in the lead up to the general elections.
The charge was made as APC inaugurated the FCT PCC on Thursday, 26th January in a ceremony which saw a number of heads of Directorates inaugurated in a bid to consolidate and harmonize all apparatus of the APC as Nigeria inches closer to the polls.
Speaking to press after the oath taking ceremony, which was conducted by the Honorable Minister of State in her capacity standing in for the Minister of the FCT at the international conference centre in Abuja, Nadabo, who was also sworn in, stated that a lot was riding on the youth populace to decide Nigeria’s political future. He reiterated the need for youths to strive to participate more in politics rather than clamour for youth inclusion alone.
“I urge my fellow Nigerian youths to be more active in politics, this, more than anything, will display your potential and capacity for leadership, which will in turn give rise to inclusiveness in governance . This is the most realistic way for more of us to be part of the decision making process of our great country,”
“The APC government is the only one since the return of democracy in 1999 that has given opportunity for the youth to participate By coming up with the” Not Too Young To Run” Law, so it is expected that Nigerian youths take advantage of this,” he said.
The event was well attended by members of the APC including; the Minister of the FCT Alhaji Muhammad Bello who was represented by Minister of State for the FCT, Dr. Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu; state chairman of the party Alhaji Usman Abdulmalik; party excos, stalwarts, and candidates alike.
