The National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), in collaboration with the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), held the closing ceremony of a two-weeks training program for Quality Assurance Assessors (QAAs) under the National Skills Qualification (NSQ) framework on 8th August 2025 at Abuja. The training, specifically focused on the automotive industry, is a key initiative toward building skilled manpower and improving competency-based education in the sector.

The Director-General of NADDC, Mr. Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin, was ably represented by the Director of the Industrial Infrastructure Department (IID), Dr. Nua Omisanya, who emphasized the significance of the program.
“This training became necessary due to the need for more assessors in the automotive industry,” Dr. Omisanya stated. “With more qualified assessors, we can increase our capacity to evaluate learners, build skills, and create job opportunities for youths across the country. This continuous training is vital to ensuring that Nigeria’s automotive workforce is competent and industry-ready.”
He noted that before the training, the Council had only 15 qualified assessors. With the new batch of 30 trainees drawn from the industry, the number will significantly increase, allowing for broader reach and impact in skills development.
“I urge all participants to take this training seriously,” he added.

Also speaking at the event, Deputy Director (IID), Mrs. Joke Onireti, highlighted the practical aspects of the training:
“Throughout this training, they have learned how to conduct assessments and make decisions based on defined criteria. Ultimately, your performance will be quality-checked at a higher level to ensure standardization.”

Mr. Olubode Majiyagbe, the lead facilitator, explained that the program equips assessors to deliver and uphold the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) within the automotive sector.

“This training ensures competency-based, nationally standardized, and internationally recognized. The DG deserves commendation for integrating the automotive sector into this system. What we’re doing now is building a foundation for structured and credible qualifications in the industry.”

NADDC reaffirms its commitment to ensuring it creates an enabling environment to foster the growth of the Nigerian Automotive Sector.
