The Chairman of Mineral Resources and Environmental Management Committee, Kogi State Chapter, ๐—›๐—ฎ๐—ท๐—ถ๐˜†๐—ฎ ๐—›๐—ฎ๐˜€๐˜€๐—ถ๐—ฎ๐˜ ๐—ข๐˜‡๐—ฎ๐˜ƒ๐—ถ๐˜‡๐—ฒ ๐—ฆ๐˜‚๐—น๐—ฒ๐—ถ๐—บ๐—ฎ๐—ป has called for improved collaboration among all organs of government which have direct and indirect mandate in the administration of solid minerals policy.

This statement was made at the 2022 edition of the World Civil Defence Day, which is also the anniversary of the first year in office of the current Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), ๐——๐—ฟ. ๐—”๐—•๐—จ๐—•๐—”๐—ž๐—”๐—ฅ ๐—”๐—›๐— ๐—˜๐—— ๐—”๐—จ๐——๐—œ, ๐—ฃ๐—ต๐——, ๐—บ๐—ป๐—ถ.

Hajia Suleiman said “Since it has been established that part of the core mandates of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps is Safe guarding high priority infrastructure, which includes Mines and Mineral Resources Security, there is absolute need for key stakeholders to collaborate fully for the betterment of the sector.”

Speaking further, the Chairman said “Local Communities are the most important players in the sector. There is need for them to, as a matter of urgency report any strange and questionable activity within their community to the nearest NSCDC command.
“It is only when every stakeholder participate actively in this collaborative effort that the benefits of these God-given endowments can be reaped”

The theme for this year’s celebration is “Civil Defence and Management of displaced population in face of disasters and crises; role of volunteers and the fight against pandemics.”

The commemoration was attended by Dr. ABUBAKAR AHMED AUDI, the Commandant General of NSCDC, and his wife, Hajia Aisha Abubakar Audi, who is the current president of Civil Defense Officers wives Association (CDOWA).

Also in attendance was a representative of the Minister of Interior, His Excellency, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, as well as representatives of the Comptroller General of Corrections, Chief of Naval Staff, Chief of Air Staff, and the Vice-chancellor of the Nassarawa State University, Keffi, Professor Suleiman Muhammad Bala.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of cheques to families and next-of-kin of officers who lost their lives in the line of duty and presentation of awards to officers who have performed excellently in the discharge of their duties, in the past year.
