The Director-General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), Otunba Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin, on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, held a strategic meeting with the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to present a comprehensive briefing on the remarkable progress being made in Nigeria’s automotive industry.
During the high-level engagement, the NADDC Director-General highlighted the Council’s ongoing initiatives aimed at strengthening local vehicle manufacturing, promoting automotive technology and innovation, developing critical industry infrastructure, enhancing human capacity, and attracting both local and international investments into Nigeria’s automotive ecosystem.
The briefing also focused on the implementation of key government policies designed to accelerate industrial growth, encourage local content development, create employment opportunities, and position Nigeria as a leading automotive manufacturing hub in Africa.
Osanipin expressed profound appreciation to President Tinubu for his unwavering commitment to the industrial transformation of Nigeria through the Renewed Hope Agenda. He acknowledged the President’s visionary leadership and continuous support for policies that are creating a more enabling environment for the growth and global competitiveness of the nation’s automotive sector.
According to the Director-General, the progress recorded by the Council reflects the Federal Government’s determination to build a resilient automotive industry capable of driving economic diversification, reducing dependence on imported vehicles, fostering technology transfer, and empowering Nigerian manufacturers.
The meeting reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to the Nigeria First policy initiative, which prioritizes local production, encourages patronage of Made-in-Nigeria vehicles, and supports sustainable industrial development.
As NADDC continues to implement strategic reforms and collaborate with industry stakeholders, the Council remains committed to delivering a modern, innovative, and globally competitive automotive sector that will contribute significantly to national economic growth and job creation.
