Di National Policy on Internally Displaced Persons IDP been launch on Tuesday by di Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social DEVELOPMENT, Sadiya Umar Farouq.
Di policy document, wey dey approve by di Federal Executive Council (FEC) in September 2021 been launch for Abuja during di Ministry Humanitarian Open House, wey di theme na ”Coordinating for Durable Humanitarian Solutions; the Journey so far.’’

Di Minister tok say dem reason many-many factors for di humanitarian space for Nigeria before dem develop and adopt di policy.

“Di aim of dis policy na to provide framework for national responsibility so that we go fit prevent and protect not only citizens, but even non-citizens, from incident of internal displacement, to give dem assistance and protection as di displacement dey happen, and to ensure say dem dey rehabilitated for return, reintegration, and relocation afta di displacement. Di policy come follow mention all di principles wey dey guide humanitarian assistance and all di solution of internal displacement in Nigeria, and e don also adopt everything wey dey in line with human rights.

Di Minister follow tok say plans dey go on to domesticate di African Union Kampala Convention.

“I wan officially announce say we don start di standalone process to domesticate di African Union Kampala Convention. Make all di relevant oga-madam for dis matter come up with di draft bill for onward presentation to di FEC for approval with follow up transmission to di National Assembly for necessary legislative action.

To make sure say di policy dey efficient and effective as dem dey run am, Di minister don inaugurate di National Coordination Working Committee and she don tell di group and all oda important oga-madam to immediately start to dey run di plan, make dem also show di duty of all di pipul wey go dey part of di plan including monitoring and evaluation strategy, say make dem ensure say everything dey in line with policy framework and scope, and make dem also determine di extent of whether dem don achieve all di goals of di Committee and di policy.

Di Minister tok say di aim of di launch of di Humanitarian Open House na to showcase di activity and work of the ministry for di past two and half years.

“We set today as di day wey Ministry go take engage with di media, and all di oga-madam wey be partners so that dem go fit ask question, and give useful suggestions. Dis Open House na to encourage plenty-plenty talk and ideas wey go helep media pipul to fit dey give true-true informate to country pipul.

Minister Umar Farouq come present di Information Brochure and di National Social Investment Programme (NSIP) Information brochure to di public.

The brochure na book wey contain all informate about di Ministry, and all im Department, Programme and Agency. Dem come also comot photo album wey all di work and achievement of di Ministry dey inside. Di Minister come carry di guests round di Humanitarian Pavilions.

Oda Oga-madam wey tok for di program include Speaker, Nigeria’s House of Representatives Femi Gbajabiamila, wey dey represented by Hon Muhammad Jega, wey be Permanent Secretary of di ministry, Bashir Nura Alkali wey dey represented by Director Humanitarian Affairs, Alhaji Ali Grema and di UN Resident Coordinator Matthias Schmale. Him sef pledged to continue to dey support di Ministry concerning IDPs.
