A two-day Forum on di Development and Recovery of the Lake Chad Basin Region just end for Abuja. For dis forum, dem call make everybody gada join hand to rebuild communities wey dey around di Lake Chad Region wey been dey affected by insurgency and oda humanitarian crises.

For di opening of di ‘Inaugural Forum on the Development of Lake Chad Basin’ wey hold on Monday for di International Conference Centre Abuja, Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo tok say di Federal gofment go dey active to create policies wey go ginger di rebuilding of di region.

Prof. Osinbajo hail di Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development Sadiya Umar Farouq, di North East Development Commission, di Lake Chad Basin Commission and oda stakeholders for all deir commitment and contribution to try recover Lake Chad Region, him follow tok say dem go transmit all di results and recommendations of di forum to di different-different gofments to guide dem for di policy making and strategic positions wey dem go want take as e dey relate to that region and how e go develop.

“I wan assure all our partners say government dey very committed to work with una so that wd go fit see sustainable, peaceful and lively region. I follow wan to assure una say we dey very determine to address di crisis and to rebuild di livelihood of people wey don. dey affected because of all di humanitarian crisis wey dey happen for di region. I dey very sure say na di same ginger wey Nigeria get na in be di same wit di gofment of Cameroon, Chad and Niger as them sef dey here,

“Di Federal gofment of Nigeria go dey active to make sure say we dey helep to improve di life of we brodas and sistas wey dey dis four countries”, na wetin di Vice President tok.

For di same forum, Minister Sadiya Umar Farouq been done estimate say about 23 million civilians wey dey affected by Boko Haram insurgency been dey waka up and down across di four countries wey border di Lake Chad Basin for di last ten years.

Di Minister wey di outgone Permanent Secretary Mr Bashir Nura Alkali been represent tok say di main thing wey dis inaugural forum wan gain na to capitalise on all di success of di military operations of di Nigerian Armed forces, di Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) as well as militaries of all LCB countries.

She tok say “To avoid another humanitarian disaster, our intention na to develop solution wey go address di challenge wey pupil dey face, like climate change and conflict, and to helep support economic recovery, repair di social contract and to try address di needs of women, youth and the most vulnerable wey dey Lake Chad region.

“Dis forum really come for very important important time as we dey plan to extend pass platform wey dey coordinate alone, we dey also try to achieve concrete joint advocacy actions, and to contribute to di orderly and humane management of reintegration systems and to assist to find practical solutions for di Lake Chad Basin”.

For di second day of di Forum, dem been get technical workshop about ‘Solutions for climate resilience in the Lake Chad Region’, ‘Supporting Local Gofnance in the Lake Chad Region’ and ‘Engaging Citizens, Women and Youths and Building Social Cohesion in the Lake Chad Region.

The Forum been dey attended by top Oga-madam dem, gofment officials of Nigeria, Chad, Cameroon and Niger Republic, Ministers, Governors, Ambassadors and High Commissioners, representatives of Security Agencies, gofment agencies, NGOs, Civil Society Organizations and oda distinguished guests.
