NCPC TO COMMENCE 2020 EASTER PILGRIMAGE IN APRIL

The Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission will commence the 2020 Easter pilgrimage exercise to Israel on 18th April. The Director in Charge of the Commission, Mrs Esther Kwaghe disclosed this on Sunday at a Thanksgiving service for the successful completion of the 2019 annual General pilgrimage held at the EYN Church of the Brethren Nigeria, at Utako, Abuja. She further stated that the Commission would commence this year,s Family pilgrimage exercise In August and the general pilgrimage exercise in October. Mrs Kwaghe explained that it was customary for the Commission to thank God for a successful annual pilgrimage exercise. She further expatiated that the 2019 General pilgrimage exercise recorded tremendous success which which included zero morbidity and zero mortality coupled with no single case of air mishap. On the whole, the Director in Charge hinted that the Commission airlifted about 5,800 pilgrims to the Holy Land with a total of 21 flights back to back. This according to her, was only possible by the grace of God and so it was very important to thank and praise God for a successful pilgrimage exercise. As the first phase of the 2019 special end of year patrol ends, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Dr Boboye Oyeyemi has undertaken a critical review of the exercise with a call on the motoring public to sustain their obedience to traffic rules and regulations, saying so far, the road has remained stable. The Corps Marshal also commended the personnel of the Corps across the country for demonstrating absolute commitment, professionalism and innovativeness in managing the massive traffic movement recorded before the Christmas celebration.

 

In the press release issued by the FRSC  spokesman, Corps Commander Bisi Kazeem, the Corps Marshal expressed satisfaction with the performance of the personnel and conduct of the motoring public in the first phase of the exercise, despite some challenges encountered in parts of the country. According to him, the fact that traffic movements were orderly in most part of the dreaded points across the federation toward the Christmas day and no reported cases of commuters sleeping on the road till the following day were reported was a positive development. He therefore, charges the personnel to remain focused and motorists to show greater commitment to issues of road safety, as the second phase of the exercise commences in earnest following the successful Christmas celebration.

 

“The FRSC Boss commended motorists for improved attitude to use of the road during the Christmas celebration and urged them to sustain the habit by showing greater concerns for other road users who must be given equal right to use of the roads,” he stated.

 

Oyeyemi particularly urged those leading convoy vehicles to show greater restraint while passing through congested and built up areas to avoid causing disorderliness that could result to traffic chaos. He specially thanked the stakeholders particularly members of the security agencies for joining hands with the Corps in ensuring orderliness and security in challenging areas across the country. “FRSC  will remain committed to ensuring safer road environment through more effective management of traffic in all parts of the roads as the second phase of the exercise commences till the end of the yuletide season and beyond,” he stated.

 

It would be recalled that the FRSC special end of year operation codenamed, “Operation Zero Tolerance For Road Crashes,” was normally launched in early September launched to counter the perennial traffic crashes, congestion, injury and deaths that characterise the Yuletide season. It covers the entire ember months and got heightened from 15 December with massive deployments of personnel, logistics and monitors from the national Headquarters of the Corps who not only complement the effort of personnel in the field commands in traffic management, but ensure compliance to operational procedures as laid down in the administrative instructions.

 

This year’s exercise is expected to last till 15 January when stand down instructions would be issued by the Corps Marshal who is the Grand Commander of the entire operations.

As Nigerians observe the 2019 Christmas celebration to mark the birthday of Jesus Christ, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Dr Boboye Oyeyemi has felicitated with the Christian faithfuls, urging them to observe traffic rules and regulations while celebrating.

In his Christmas message, the Corps Marshal while felicitating with the Christians expressed optimism that the celebration would be hitch-free as all necessary arrangement has been made by the Corps through deployments of personnel and logistics to cover the wide network of the nation’s highways. He particularly sought for cooperation from all road users to ensure that the desired safety and stability during the celebration are attained, noting that road safety is a shared responsibility.

According to a statement issued by the FRSC spokesman, Corps Commander Bisi Kazeem, this year’s special end of year patrol is taken more seriously by the Corps in view of its strategic importance as the last year before the review of the UN campaign against road carnage under the auspices of the UN Decade of Action For Road Safety: 2011-2020. He called on members of the public to get actively involved in the campaigns through the various FRSC media platforms including the National Traffic Radio, 107.1FM with the studio numbers: 09067000015 and 08052998090 respectively.

“The Corps Marshal is specially concerned with the success of this year’s campaign which is the basepoint for the review of the success of the ongoing campaigns, and all hands must be on deck to attain the set target,” he stated.

Oyeyemi restated his earlier call that road safety is a shared responsibility of all stakeholders, and every Nigerian must show commitment to the success of the ongoing campaigns to eradicate the menace of road traffic crashes in the country. “We have made the necessary human and logistics deployments toward ensuring that Christmas and New year celebrations are observed under the atmosphere of peace, safety and tranquillity. I therefore, call on all road users to observe all the traffic rules and regulations and avoid whatever action that could undermine their safety during the celebration and beyond,” the Corps Marshal stated.

He further enjoined road travelers not to hesitate to call FRSC call toll free line: 122 in the event of an emergency, stressing that the FRSC call centre and all other rescue facilities have been put on the alert to respond promptly to emergencies during the celebration and beyond. He wishes Nigerians merry Christmas celebration and prosperous new year in advance.

The Acting Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission,Mrs Esther Kwaghe has said that the dream of the Commission was for every Christian to be able to participate in Holy pilgrimage to Israel at least once in a life time. The NCPC Boss who spoke through the Head Media of the Commission, Mr Celestine Toruka during the Jerusalem Pilgrim ceremony for pilgrims who had completed their pilgrimage circle in Israel. She said she was satisfied with the conduct of the first batch of Plateau Pilgrims which made it possible for the Commission to achieve zero abscondment during their pilgrimage exercise in Israel. She was also particularly impressed that the Commission was able to achieve zero morbidity and mortality. The NCPC Executive Secretary assured that the Commission would continue to ensure that the welfare of the Nigerian Pilgrims are guaranteed. She commended the Tabar Tours for living up to the terms and conditions of their engagement with the Commission. In his remarks, the Executive Secretary of the Plateau State Christian pilgrims welfare board, Rev. Fr. George Gorap applauded the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission for the effective handling of this year’s ongoing pilgrimage in Israel. He commended the Plateau State government for ninvesting in pilgrimage. According to the Clergy, ‘ when we talk of pilgrimage in Nigeria, Plateau state is on the centre stage’, he said. He thanked the management of Tabar Tours for their excellent services. Speaking, the President of Tabar Tours, Mr Joseph Tabar, thanked the Governor of Plateau state, RT. Hon. Simon Lalong for his wonderful contributions to pilgrimage. He also appreciated the role being played by NCPC and the Nigeria Embassy in Israel for a hitch free pilgrimage exercise. Nigerian Pilgrims celebrate Christmas with the Chinese in Jerusalem The Nigerian Pilgrims currently in Israel for the 2019 general pilgrimage exercise celebrated Christmas in Jerusalem with some prophetic Chinese team who joyfully joined them to mark the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. The interdenominational service was held at Jerusalem Gate hotel. In his sermon, Pastor Habila Biniyat spoke on God, s favour on Mary, the Mother of Christ. He stressed that life is about the favour of God which in most cases is unmerited. Pastor Biniyat prayed that the favour of God would locate Nigeria in the new year. The pastor who is a member of the NCPC Spirituality Committee said that Nigeria would experience all round blessings in 2020. In his prayers, the leader of the Chinese prophetic team, Pastor David Ying Ju Cui prayed for closer ties between Nigeria and China. He prayed that the Lord who transformed China would certainly transformed Nigeria and move both countries forward. pastor David also prayed for the growth of the Chinese and Nigerian Church. He prophetically stated that the Holy Spirit led the prophetic team to come to pilgrimage to pray for the peace of Israel and the growth of Nigeria economy. To buttress his prophetic point, he donated a prophetic flag to Nigeria through Pastor Peter Ogbe, a member of NCPC Spirituality Committee, with the inscription of the message of Prophet Jeremiah chapter 3 verse 23. Prayers were offered for Nigeria, Plateau and China. The Nigerian Pilgrims at the Christmas celebration were made up of the first batch of Plateau Pilgrims.

The Acting Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission Mrs Esther Kwaghe has said that pilgrimage provides the opportunity to reposition the destiny of Nigeria through prayers. She stated this in her message at the Commission, s prayer convocation in Jerusalem on Sunday. The NCPC Boss affirmed that ‘ the need and the urgency to pray for our nation now cannot be over emphasised.’. According to her, ‘pilgrimage provides us a platform to see and meet God personally as we connect with the physical realities on sites of the things we heard and read in the word of God the Bible’. Mrs Kwaghe further admonished the pilgrims to take advantage of this year’s pilgrimage and prayer Convocation to worship God and build fellowship with one another. She urged them to pray for the nation, her leaders and their loved ones. The Federal Commissioner representing North Central Zone on the Board of the NCPC, Rev Israel Akanji stood in for the Acting Executive Secretary,. In his exultation, he prayed that the church in Nigeria should be modeled after the worship Jesus had at the baptism in river Jordan. He stressed that the church should be a place known to preach repentance. In his words, ‘ the church must stand to preach against what is wrong’. Rev. Akanji further explained that a model church should be a place of surprises and there must be mutual humility. His word’s ‘ the kind of church we want in Nigeria is the one that must be humble’. He prayed that God will give Nigeria humble servants of God. The NCPC Board member averred that God would help the church to be what it should be so that Nigeria would move from Glory to glory. Prayers were offered for Nigeria church, advancement of the gospel, development and leadership, nation building and service. This prayer convocation is one of the series of convocations that the Commission has conducted since the commencement of this year’s pilgrimage on 1st December.

Clergy Prays For transformations in Nigeria. A member of the NCPC Spirituality Committee for this year’s General pilgrimage to Israel, Pastor Peter Ogbe, has prayed for all round transformations for Nigeria during the ongoing General pilgrimage in Israel. The Clergy who is the Senior Pastor of the True Believers Missionary Church Incorporated Nigeria, Abuja prayed variously at the Lake of Galilee, the Church of Jesus at Tabgha and the Mount of Beatitudes. He prayed that Henceforth Nigeria as a nation would begin to experience increase in her developmental goals since Jesus in this land multiplied bread ( five loaves and two fishes) to feed five thousand men besides women and children and the left overs were twelve baskets full. According to him, ‘this was a display of God, s abundance to the nation Israel.’ He prayed that the Nigerian pilgrims would return back home to experience God, s abundance. He further added that God in His infinite mercies would remove the label on Nigeria as the poverty capital of the world to a glorious Nigeria where everyone would be proud and Nigeria would take its rightful place in the comity of nations economically and politically.

Pastor Ogbe scored NCPC high in the effective organization of this year, s pilgrimage exercise. This batch of pilgrims are the second batch made up of pilgrims from Plateau state. It would be recalled that NCPC flagged off the 2019 General pilgrimage to Israel on 1st December in Lagos and since then the pilgrimage has been progressing steadily to the glory of God.
